The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) are tracking down and investigating companies who allow their drivers on the road with tyres as old as 10 years or more. With this new regulation, any vehicle operator found using old tyres will face a follow-up investigation and potential regulatory action.
What does this mean for you?
If you are in the commercial field and are caught using old tyres within your fleet of vehicles, the DVSA will question the motives behind doing so. If you are unable to provide a satisfactory explanation, you may be referred to the Office of the Traffic Commissioner for potential regulatory action.
You must ensure that the tyre management system within your company is up to the mandatory standard. If not, then you too could be investigated by the DVSA.
