EIGHTEEN-year-old Katie Briggs didn’t like school or college and struggled with her confidence before she found her apprenticeship at Lindleys Autocentres.

Now the Light Vehicle apprentice from Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, has found her ‘place’ and is looking ahead to a lifelong career in the motor industry.

Katie said “It’s lovely here, I feel like I’ve really found my place. It’s like having a family. I really get on with the lads, but the manager is here to support us all and she really knows what she’s doing with people. In a usually male-dominated environment, it’s really nice to have two women in one branch. We all do really well together.”

Katie sees her future in the motor industry and is looking forward to the opportunities it will present her with. She added: “My apprenticeship includes an air conditioning qualification, so once I’ve done my apprenticeship, I really want to get my MOT license and an electronic course, so I can keep my skills up to date for modern and electric cars. I just want to be the best I can be.”

From dead-end work to a fully qualified vehicle technician.

Adam Leighton had many years of doing jobs he didn’t enjoy. This all changed when he joined Lindleys!

Previously a van driver for a parts supplier, Adam joined Lindleys in 2016 as a tyre fitter. His attitude and work ethic quickly shone through and he was given the opportunity to start learning vehicle repairs and servicing,

Fast forward a few years, and his hard work earned him the right to become a fully qualified vehicle technician and MOT tester.

Adam said “It’s been the best job I’ve ever had. Before this, it was just dead-end work. My whole life has completely changed.”

Adam sees his future with Lindleys and is excited for the future of working with electric and hybrid cars.
