When was the last time you checked your MOT date? Now could be a good time…
Drivers are being warned to check their MOT due date ahead of a September MOT demand increase that could see motorists hit with a £1000 fine.
Back when the Covid Pandemic first started, the government put in place a 6-month MOT extension to keep people from mixing which in turn has resulted in 5.5 million cars having a new MOT due date for the foreseeable future.
Cars, motorcycles, and light vans due an MOT between March 30th 2020 and July 31st 2020 in Britain were given a six-month extension due to the nationwide lockdown.
Many drivers eventually had their vehicles tested in September 2020, meaning their annual MOT falls in September this year and moving forwards.
This means drivers will be competing for slots with the owners of the 339,000 new cars bought in September 2018, which will be due a mandatory third anniversary MOT.
