With summer season just around the corner, the time where you start sticking to your leather seat in a long drive is coming up. You don’t want to open your windows on the motorway, perhaps because of the extreme volume or the several insects that find their way to your car, so what is the solution? Air conditioning, and here are 3 tips to effectively maintain your air conditioning system within your car.
Initially you may want to know how you air conditioning works, right? The air is cooled by a refrigerant gas and then is circulated through your car and then you are no longer stuck to your seat.
How to effectively maintain your air con
You only want to cool your car, not the whole of the A52! If your air conditioning is on, close your windows. This will save fuel and coolant as your car isn’t pumping both into the air outside.
Keep it clean, ever wondered what that horrible smell in your car might be? There’s a great chance it’s your air conditioning system. Over time, both dust and liquid build up in the unit and create a place for bacteria to settle, causing the whole car to smell.
Recharge frequently. As well as your oil and other liquids needing to be topped up regularly, so does your coolant. At Lindleys Autocentres we recommend recharging once every two years, however, each vehicle varies so check your handbook. If you feel your coolant is reducing in volume too fast than there may be a leak in the system, it’s important to get this checked, here at lindleys we offer air conditioning services and can take care of this for you.
